Timperley Methodist Church Link Group
The Link is a long standing ladies group at Timperley Methodist Church, originally formed when ladies of over 40 in the Young Wives group were deemed too old to be thus called!
It was suggested that this new group became a link between the two groups and there are currently about 50 members. The Young Wives group no longer meets.
The Link meets on alternate Mondays at 7:30pm, either in the church or in the Cornerstone Room. There is a strong Christian element, with every meeting beginning with a hymn and a prayer and ending with an epilogue.
The Link fosters friendship, has interesting speakers on many different topics and enjoys the occasional coach outing. A Christmas lunch is held at a hotel.
Some of the talks recently have been on scams, authorship and the Aspey's Journey of Discovery. The No String Puppets from Altrincham Methodist Church entertained and social evenings have included an auction and a games evening.
There has always been an emphasis on raising money for charity and the church. Many concerts featuring Loose Change and other groups have been organised to do this. Thousands of pounds have been donated over the years. Several speakers also donate their fee to a charity or the church.
All meetings end with tea and coffee and lots of chat.
