March Message from Malc

OrbandCrossWelcome to our March newsletter. I start this months update with the backdrop of the tragic events of this last couple of weeks. First of all the stabbing of Yousef Makkie in Hale and now the act of terrorism in New Zealand where 49 Muslims were killed whilst at Friday Prayers. Whilst thoughts and prayers go from our faith communities to all those involved in these events, we should also look to ourselves and the roles we play in our communities to work together to understand the reasons behind these tragic events and help with solutions. Remember our Prayer Chapel is open between 10 and 12 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning for personal prayer and reflection.

Prayer for Christchurch, New Zealand

God of peace
We pray for those caught up in the events in New Zealand, for those killed and wounded, and for those who will mourn.
We pray for the people of the emergency services as they respond, and for community leaders and faith leaders as they work to heal broken communities.
Soften the hearts of those who are motivated by hate and bring peace to your precious people of New Zealand.

In Christ’s name. Amen

Michaela Youngson, President of the Methodist Church in Great Britain

Lent has begun - have you given anything up? If so, I pray you will find strength in God to see it through. If, like me, you always find it hard to find something to give up, why not try the 40 Days 40 Items idea that is going around. Each day find something you no longer need and at Easter take your 40 items to a local charity shop. Alternatively, collect 40 items of food or personal hygiene products and donate them to the Foodbank here a TMC. This can make a lot of difference to a lot of people in our community who are struggling at the moment.

Through lent we have a number of groups meeting for discussion. The Methodist Circuit has three groups looking at a study based on the film The Way. These will run an Monday afternoons, Tuesday mornings and Friday evenings. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more details. We also have the Timperley Churches Together Friday Lent Lunches and Sunday Evening Ecumenical Lent Group at Holy Cross at 'I Daniel Blake'. Plenty to choose from.

Before our next Newsletter here at TMC we have Tiny Praise (11:30 on 18th March and 15th April) and Messy Easter (8th April at 11:30). We would love to see you there. We also have our Big Bash service on the 24th March at 6:00pm. If you don't like the usual, formal style of worship, maybe this is for you.

The Marathon passing through the village on the 7th April. The church will be open and serving refreshments. Why not come along and cheer on those who are raising money for various charities, and if you're taking part, well done.

On Saturday 30th March our local GMP PCSO Barbara Smith will be in the Coffee Corner between 10 and 12, and on Saturday 6th April we have a Craft sale with Coffee and Cake, again 10 till 12 in Coffee Corner.

Finally we would all like to say a big 'HI' to our newest member here at TMC, Joshua Levi Watts born on the 25th February. A massive congratulations to Catherine and Andy.
